Book Blogger Hop / Friday Wishlist

Book Blogger Hop
This weeks question for the Book Blogger Hop, from Crazy For Books:
"Why do you read the genre that you do?  What draws you to it?"

Honestly, I don't know. I just like fantasy. I like other genres, too. Mysteries, science fiction, romances, thrillers - you know. Other stuff. But fantasy is the kick I'm on right now, and have been for a while. Especially urban fantasy, and in that area, especially Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. Maybe there's just a part of me that has never given up on the hope of running into a fairy and getting a wish or two.

Friday Wishlist
River Marked (Mercy Thompson, Book 6)              Bound in Blood (Seeker)

Personally, I've been impatiently waiting for March 1, when Patricia Briggs' next Mercy Thompson book, River Marked, comes out. We finally learn more about Mercy's father! But not until March 1. Big sigh. That's just way too far away.

I have another book on my wishlist, but it's not out yet, either. Although it's hitting the shelves in only 12 more days! Woohoo! Bound in Blood, by P.C. Hodgell. (And I'm really going to have a do a post raving about her, one of these days. Her Chronicles of the Kencyrath series is fantastic. I highly recommend them.

What are you wishing for?

Just hopping through. I think I'm in the same boat as you - wishing/hoping to meet a faery someday. Wouldn't that be great :)

I read more than one genre. But there are a few genres I don't read. Come see what I do and don't read.

Me too, I'm also a big YA fan.

The book that's top on my wishlist right now is Wither by Lauren DeStefano. I'm captivated by the cover. Can't believe it doesn't come out until March, and I'm so jealous of all my blogger friends who have their hands on a copy already.

Love the design of your blog!

Fantasy is an amazing genre! I've never understood some literary snobs' disdain for it. It's like hating joy in my mind.

I've read all sorts over the years, but I LOVE romance. Particularly historical romances, but over Christmas I won a modern romance novel from this lovely blog I hang out at (Romance Magicians - a group of published and unpublished romance writers based in Alabama). The book was 'Lying Eyes' by Amy Atwell. It was really well written with great funny characters and she's got two more books relating to secondary characters in the pipe line. I can't remember the last time I bought a modern romance (if ever). I will be buying them!
I think genres are a good thing, but sometimes I get blinded by a preferred setting. There are a lot of great stories out there I'd probably LOVE if I knew about them!

PS
Speaking of literature and music... Have you heard the song, 'Tiger in the Night' by Katie Melua? I think it was inspired by that poem 'Tiger Tiger' The author of which has escaped me. If you haven't heard the song, I think you'd like it.
