Don't tell me you aren't immediately intrigued. With a title like that I know you are; I was. I read about this book in Family Fun's kids summer reading list and immediately went looking for it at the library.
Sadly, I live in a small town with a small library.
I suppose I will have to wait, but that's what our Friday posts are about! The books we have to wait for.
Here's what the author, Michael Reisman's website says about the book:
"This is the story of Simon Bloom, an imaginative 11-year old boy who finds the wondrous Teacher's Edition of Physics (or does it find him?), a Book that lets him control the laws of Physics.
Simon and his friends, Owen and Alysha, have a great time with these powers, but unfortunately, they're not the only ones who know about it. The Book belongs to a group, called the Order of Physics, who wants it back..."
What has me intrigued is the educational potential for this book. I can imagine questions abounding in our home as my daughter delves into the laws of science without even realizing what she's done.
The Los Angeles Times (as found on Reisman's website) said:
"Reisman does this so adroitly that real information about gravity, electricity, friction and such seems as magical as the adventure that catapults Simon Bloom and his two friends into a struggle for domination of the universe..." (Review By Lynne Heffley)
And, even better, it's the first of a series--Simon Bloom: the Gravity Keeper is followed by
Simon Bloom: the Octopus Effect and due out sometime soon is Simon Bloom: the Order of Chaos.
So, if you're like me and constantly looking for good books for your children (that you can read as well) put this one on your list.
