InkHeart Meets Cher???

I know this combination is going to come across as odd but I just can't seem to get it out of my head.

Bear with me here while I try to explain it.
Inkheart Trilogy Boxset
Have you ever read Inkheart by Cornelia Funke?

Well, if you haven't you need to put down your mouse, shut your laptop and go find it... but not for the reasons you think. Is it a good book? Meh, it's okay.

Does it capture the lure of the written word? Absolutely perfectly!

I've gone off on a tangent--let me get back on track.

Inkheart is the story of a family with a pretty big secret... They have the ability to read books into life.

It's a pretty cool trick actually--if you, perhaps, are interested in seeing what really lies at 20,000 leagues. But not such a cool trick when you accidentally unleash a maniac into our world, nor is it fun when you accidentally read yourself into the book, and then the book gets lost.

Things get a little dicey then.
"Does your father often read aloud to you, Meggie?" asked Dustfinger.

Meggie looked at him suspiciously. Then she knelt down beside the backpack and stroked Gwin's silky tail. "No," she said. "But he taught me to read when I was five."

"Ask him why he doesn't read aloud to you," said Dustfinger. "And don't let him put you off with excuses."
So Cher's song "If I Could Turn Back Time" has the perfect few lines to go with this book. More specifically to go with how Meggie's father is feeling, and why he won't read aloud to her.
If I Could Turn Back Time: Cher's Greatest Hits"If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I'd take back those words that hurt you
And you'd stay

I don't know why I did the things I did
I don't know why I said the things I said
Pride's like a knife it can cut deep inside
Words are like weapons they wound sometimes.

I didn't really mean to hurt you
I didn't wanna see you go
I know I made you cry
But baby

If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I'd take back those words that hurt you
And you'd stay
Stay? What was that about staying?

Oh! Did I just give away too much? I guess you'll have to read it and find out. :)

This book has been on my to-read list for a long time. I've got it checked out from the library finally since I put it on my reading list for September.
