The Knife of Never Letting Go

The Knife of Never Letting Go: Chaos Walking: Book OneYes, I normally make my Friday Wish-List posts about books for my kids, but that doesn't mean I don't buy books for myself. Trust me - I buy books for myself. Way too many books for myself, some people would say. (Hmmmph. I do not listen to them. One can never own too many books.)

One of the latest additions to my (admittedly extensive) List Of Books I Must Make Time To Read is the Chaos Walking series, by Patrick Ness. It was the description of the first book, The Knife of Never Letting Go, that got me interested.

Prentisstown is a place where everyone's thoughts are open to everyone else; there is no way to either avoid hearing anyone else or keep your own thoughts private - until one boy stumbles on a spot where there's silence.

Yep. Right there. That is what sucked me in. Silence? Why is there silence? My curiosity bump stuck its nose out like a groundhog in February and refused to go back to sleep. Which means these books (the next two are The Ask and The Answer, and Monsters of Men) aren't just on my List, they've gotten kicked to the top.

Oh these sound interesting. I just justified buying books on my bookdepository wishlist by saying you can never have too many books!

Except that I do have to confess I need to leave room for my family somewhere in here! That's why I've gotten hooked on ebooks - I don't have to worry about running out of shelf space.

I've read all 3 books and they were brilliant. There was only 1 thing that bugged me about the first one. It's written from Todd's point of view and some words are deliberately spelled incorrectly eg. creachers for creatures. I have this issue with stuff not spelled properly lol but apart from that fantastic. This series definitely sucked me in.
